Holiday Beauty Recommendations

I love holiday makeup!  So I figured I'd share what I've been using this holiday season -- I kid you not, I have all of this stuff in my purse.  haha

Prepare the skin
  • Fresh Soy Cleanser and Exfoliator  I prep my skin in the morning with the exfoliator and wash off my make up at night with the cleanser.  It smells good and leaves my skin soft without stripping it of it's natural moisture
  • Hope in a Jar by Philosophy  I keep the travel size in my purse and the big one in the bathroom.  It's one of Oprah's favorite things and made my holiday shopping for the ladies list as well!  It moisturizes and exfoliates, giving you silky skin 24/7.
  • First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Cream  One of my newer favorites, I wear this to bed or if I know it's going to be windy outside.  It protects and soothes the skin from harsh weather conditions.

Base your face
  • High Beam highlighter by Benefit  I don't like foundation because it's too heavy and makes me feel like I'm wearing a mask.  Instead, I use this highlighter product by Benefit to make my face glow and then apply concealer when necessary to cover up any imperfections.

    Make it up
    • Tarte cheek stain  I prefer cream blush to powder because it looks natural and you don't have to cake it on.  Plus this stuff lasts a lot longer.
    • Chantecaille eye shadow in Celestite  I was introduced to Chantecaille products when I worked at Frederic Fekkai.  They're a luxury brand from the creators of Prescriptives and their eye shadow stays put!  I use the Sephora Smudge Shadow Brush to apply it and create a thicker lash line
    • Chantecaille Le Stylo eyeliner  After applying the show around the lash line, I go over it lightly with this liner pen to give a more dramatic, 60's look, which makes your eyes pop!  I know they say stay away from black liner in the day, but as long as you're steering clear of a smokey eye you'll be create a clean and stunning eye look
    • Voluminous mascara by Loreal  This is my favorite mascara by far... it's dirt cheap ($8 at Target) and it works the best to thicken and lengthen lashes.  Do a coat on both eyes, let it dry and then apply another coat for fluttery lashes
    • I set the look with Make Up For Ever's Loose Powder.  It absorbs any excess oil and leaves your face photo ready! (Applied with Sephora's Kabuki Flex brush.)
    • Finish it off with a sheer red by Yves Saint Laurent called Frozen Cherry in their Gloss Volupte Sheer Sensual Gloss line

    Hair Do's
    • It's not good to wash your hair every single day... however, if you're like me, I almost have to for fear it will look greasy.  I hate that matted look, so on the days I don't wash, I live for Oscar Blandi's Pronto Invisible Voluminizing Dry Shampoo Spray!  It not only applies an invisible starch to your hair to absorb dirt and oil, but it adds "oomph" so you hair looks like you just got a blow out.  I keep a travel size in my purse :)

    Nail It
    • If you want to be festive with your nails, I recommend OPI for Sephora's "Merry Me!" nail colour, a bright and sparkly red, OR OPI's "Here today, Aragon Tomorrow," a deep green.
